Improv games or exercises are instant, in-the-moment experiences which lead to something new. They are fun and fulfilling ways to “break set” with mental habits, explore “what if” thinking, and tap our potential for thinking in new ways. Research shows that improv enhances creativity, well-being, and strengthens our resilience to deal with stress. This talk will show how improv exercises can increase creativity and discuss ways we can use these experiences to deal with change and psychological expansion. Improvisation exercises are grounded in a principle called “yes…and” which provides a readiness to step into the present moment, accept what we find there and to respond to it.
